The Geeks shall inherit the Earth, which is why Geekery has been such a popular auction category on Tophatter. Many buyers and sellers get excited about it and can’t wait for those auctions…and there are always the curious few who want to see what the hype is all about!
So for those among us who don’t fully know what Geekery means and/or includes, I’d be happy to clarify. If you Google “definition of Geekery,” you get a lot of suggestions for what “geek” means and even more references to “42”. Sidenote: if you don’t know what 42 is, then you aren’t a geek. :)
But, lo and behold, the OED (Oxford English Dictionary) has a definition! Geekery is: obsessive interest in or enthusiasm for a subject, typically one of specialist or minority interest.
So how do we decide what constitutes as Geekery? Considering that some sites have defined Geekery as loosely as “that which concerns Geeks”, we’d like to pinpoint that typical Geekery items should be in the Sci-fi realm or related to computers, Dungeons & Dragons and even fun references to math & science.

Seeing all of these items and how much demand there is for them just reassures me of Geekery’s increasing popularity. But, it is curious to note, if Geekery is related to topics of a particular interest, wouldn’t that mean that, eventually, Geekery couldn’t be considered Geekery anymore?
